STARS of teen TV soap Hollyoaks performed the switch-on of the seasonal lights in Peterlee town centre, in east Durham, on Tuesday.
Elize DuToit, better known on the Channel 4 series as Izzy, and Daniel Hyde, who plays Scott, flicked the switch to light up the tree and surrounding Christmas decorations at the Castle Dene Shopping Centre.
The switch-on signals the start of the festive build up with regular late night shopping on Thursdays and Friday in the centre.
