Wilton 1sts stretched their unbeaten run to five in the North-East top flight with a sturdy performance against Stockton 2nds.

Stockton battled hard but fell victim to Wilton's strong attacking play. After 20 minutes Captain Peter Elgey fired a ball into the scoring circle for John Tombling to finish. Man of the match keeper Mark Morris coolly cleared anything that Stockton put his way. Stockton's Mark Yule was sin binned but Wilton got on with playing hockey and Rob Walker cracked home and Scott Morton grabbed a third to round off a solid 3-0 victory.

Wilton 2nds battled it out with local rivals Billingham 1st's in division two. Wilton started well but were penned in the middle third of the pitch by a resilient Billingham midfield who despite being strong defensively were unable to form any attacking threat. Without injured full back Bobby Shaw and a lack of defensive cover Wilton were forced to adopt an unfamiliar defensive formation which took some time to adjust to. Captain Mark Nevison, playing on the right of a defensive trio, struck the ball from a free hit just inside his own half which found Mark Whitworth in the 'D' his skill and composure on the ball allowed him to ghost past the keeper allowing him to effortlessly score the opener.

Excellent defensive displays from men of the match Alan Larder and Bob Leason kept Billingham at bay. It was Larder who stepped up to confidently convert a penalty stroke and Glen Cutler added a third shortly afterwards to put the game beyond Billingham's reach however with only minutes to go they fired home a consolation from a penalty corner.

Wilton's 3rd team suffered another second half collapse this week. In the first half, after conceding a second minute goal, Wilton took the game to Norton and the game became a very equal contest with both teams going close. However, skipper Tony Clarke is going to have to find more inspiration for his half-time talks as, yet again, Wilton succumbed to two defensive errors which opened the floodgates for a Norton 6-0 win.
