SANTA will ride on a horse-drawn omnibus through Guisborough to celebrate the start of the town's Christmas festivities.
The Christmas lights will be switched on at 4pm on Tuesday, December 2, and Santa will begin his parade at 5pm, accompanied by a group of schoolchildren chosen in a competition organised by Guisborough Round Table.
He will arrive at his grotto, at Sunnyfield House, at 5.30pm where children can pay him a visit and try their hand at Christmas crafts.
Home-made refreshments will be available and the winning ticket for the town mayor's raffle will be drawn.
Shop staff will be wearing fancy dress and Stewart MacFarlane MBE and the mayor of Guisborough, Councillor Anne Franklin, will give a prize to the person with the best costume.
There will be carols from 4pm around the tree, near the market cross.
Non-alcoholic drinks willk be served from a bar on the church army bus outside St Nicholas' Church. Shops will be open late.
