PSYCHIC Gary Fowler claims his latest prediction will prove the existence of a sixth sense which can look into the future.

Details have been placed inside a sealed envelope, which was yesterday locked in a safe in The Northern Echo's Darlington offices, to be opened only when the event it forecasts has come to pass.

Gary said it would transform the way we view the human mind.

The Teesside-born medium last year correctly named former Take That singer Mark Owen as the winner of Celebrity Big Brother, before the line-up for the show had even been announced.

But he said his latest prediction would dwarf his Big Brother achievement.

He said the event, which will happen before Christmas, did not concern war or injury, but declined to elaborate further.

Gary said: "It is a cosmic event, and we have had a few cosmic events already this year. We have had David Beckham signing for Real Madrid, President Bush coming to the North-East, and the rugby World Cup being brought back to England.

"It is that type of thing, and the number three is going to be very significant, but I can't really say any more than that."

Gary said details of the event had been revealed to him by an angel eight months ago, but he had not divulged them to anyone.

He said he would give The Northern Echo 24 hours notice of when he would return to open the envelope, which until then will remain untouched in the safe.

"In my eyes, all human beings have six senses, and this will demonstrate beyond doubt that certain things in the future can be seen," he said.

The envelope, which carries distinctive markings and has been sealed with sticky tape, was placed in the safe in front of Nick Morrison, features editor of The Northern Echo, and chief photographer Mike Gibb.
