FA Trophy and UniBond League: Spennymoor are involved in a row with Horden over the departure of Steve Tierney from the club.

Tierney was signed by manager Tony Lee from Horden in October, but has now returned to the Northern League club and has been replaced by Martin Kearney at the Brewery Field.

Horden have said that the player returned because he didn't like the extra travel in the UniBond League, but Spennymoor manager Tony Lee disagrees.

"Steve works for the Horden chairman, who told me in a phone call last week that he would make him work until 2pm every Saturday, so then he won't be able to play for us," he said.

Moors, with Martin Kearney in goal, lost 2-1 at Stafford Rangers in the FA Trophy on Saturday.

They took the lead after 18 minutes when Anthony Shandran scored from a Jon Cullen corner.

But after Kearney made two good saves, Stafford levelled when Danny Davidson scored following a corner, and quickly went in front through Davidson from a Paul Gibson pass.

Moors had more of the game in the second half, and thought they should have had a penalty when Steve Preen was brought down, while Chris I'Anson also went close.

At the other end, former Sunderland striker Don Goodman headed just over.

Lee said: "Silly mistakes cost us goals in the first half and we put them right. We just couldn't get an equaliser."

Whitby must replay in midweek after they drew 1-1 with Bradford PA.

Andy Hayward fired Bradford into the lead with just two minutes left, but Scott Nicholson levelled deep into injury time.

Blyth are through after they beat Stocksbridge 4-2 at Croft Park, Anthony Woodhouse and Graham Fenton scoring in the second half after the score was 2-2 at the interval.

In the UniBond Premier Division, Gateshead lost 1-0 at Bridlington, their first defeat in five league games.
