CONSTRUCTION company York House has completed a £1.6m 40-bed extension at a residential nursing home.

The company, which is based in Richmond, North Yorkshire, has worked in partnership with the Donisthorpe Hall Charitable Trust on the extension at Silver Lodge, in Shadwell, north Leeds, named in memory of former Leeds United Football Club chairman Leslie Silver.

The traditional structure, which adjoins the existing nursing home, has been built to a high specification and has been designed to blend in with its existing landscaped surroundings.

An environmentally friendly heating system has also been installed, incorporating solar panels on the roof to heat water.

The chairman of Donisthorpe Hall, Sam Goldman, said: "We are delighted with the new-build extension.

"York House Construction has exercised great efficiency and dedication throughout the construction period and we now have a state-of-the-art residential facility able to meet the future needs of the community."

Founder director of York House Construction, Andy Bruce, said "We are delighted to have been able to utilise our experience in the residential and nursing home sector, and clients such as the Donisthorpe Hall Charitable Trust have been able to tap into our skills and expertise to bring their projects to fruition.

"This new extension rivals the very best facilities available in this sector anywhere in the region.

"Our expansion into the Leeds area has been highly successful in the past two years and, with significant new contracts gained recently from companies such as Landmark Development Projects and Evans of Leeds, our growth has also created a high demand for skilled workers from all areas of the construction industry.

"We employ more than 60 full-time staff and we anticipate growth to continue."
