THE search is on for 100 brave people to plunge into the sea at Whitby on Boxing Day in the cause of charity.
The town's Lions Club which is organising the event, says 80 per cent of the money raised will go to the dippers' nominated charity with the balance going to the Lions which supports several local charities.
"We are encouraging people to turn up in fancy dress to give a real carnival atmosphere to the occasion," said Lions president John Lammerton.
The event will start at 10.45am and members of St John Ambulance Brigade and divers from Whitby Sub Aqua Club will be on hand in the event of an emergency.
