Richmond and Zetland Harriers combined their Annual General Meeting and Presentation Evening on Sunday 23rd November.
There are pros and cons to all functions and after the sumptuous environs of Aske Hall in 2002, this year the Club was more than happy with the comfortable surroundings and the bar of the Richmond Cricket Club. Chairman, Bob Pocklington welcomed fifty plus members to the AGM and reported on another competitive year in all age groups and all disciplines, across the Club. The Treasurer's Report by Ian Hepworth affirmed the sound financial footing of the Club, with particular reference to the work of Graham Purvis in obtaining grants, and recommended that the Annual Subs be pegged at £ 25.00 for Junior and Senior members for at least another year. Graham Purvis was elected Hon Secretary, Judith Fowden to Membership, Mike Brooks to Publicity and Fiona Hughes accepted to manage both T&F and X-C, Junior and Senior teams "with a little help from my friends" - several new faces were voted onto Committee in adhoc capacity and will make things work.
Half time was marked by a fine buffet supper and the opportunity to refill glasses whilst the 25 Club Trophies to be presented were organised. Club Coach (and Teams Manager) Fiona Hughes explained the rationale behind each award and highlighted the season's best performance for each athlete before presenting the trophies with Mike Brooks.
