A NORTH Yorkshire caf and confectionery firm has clinched a top award.

Betty's and Taylor's of Harrogate - which has a branch in Northallerton - has been praised for its commitment to staff, customers and suppliers.

The well-known firm, which makes cakes, coffees, chocolates and teas, is one of only three companies in the country to win the Family Business Honour for Social Responsibility. The award comes from the Institute of Family Businesses, working with the London Business School.

Betty's took the accolade after judges spent a day assessing the business and talking to employees.

The panel was particularly impressed with the way the firm works with local people.
