DIVISION One side Browney jumped a place to seventh in the top flight with a convincing, 7-1 win over Jekyll and Hyde Tudhoe United.
Browney, promoted from Division Two only last season, were comfortable winners over a Tudhoe side experiencing a mixed campaign. A hat-trick by Dale Phillips plus goals from Peter Boucher (2) and Steven Mudd (2) did the damage, despite Tudhoe pulling a first-half goal back to make it 2-1. "Once we scored the third their heads went down," said Browney boss Gerard Crooks. "But we've been threatening to do that for a while now. We've been playing well in recent games and the goals were bound to follow."
Meanwhile, Postchaise and a struggling Lakeside ground out a 3-3 draw. Striker Marc De Lucia gave Lakeside the lead, only for the hosts to equalise through striker Paul Thompson, who then added a second to put his side in front.
Steve Woodward drew Lakeside level from the spot before half-time, and then striker Wayne Marram put Lakeside ahead after the break with a cracking goal, and they appeared to edge a league win, but Postchaise snatched an equaliser with the last kick of the game through Lee Taylor.
"A slight improvement on previous performances," said Lakeside manager Stuart Hodgson. "We played some decent football in periods but again have thrown the game away, and the passion I've been looking for was still lacking."
Postchaise defender Paul Barker said: "It was a scrappy, battling performance. I don't think either side really deserved to win - it was close all the way through to the end, when he scored our equaliser."
Elsewhere in Division One, Old Shildon continued their title assault with a 4-0 win at Green Tree, Paul Whensley (2), Martin Hedley and John Poulter scoring the goals.
Salvins won 5-1 at Horndale, Loves won 6-1 at Binchester Social Club and Newton Aycliffe beat Beehive 4-2 at home.
Hunwick emerged as the new favourites to win the Second Division title when they leapfrogged Belvedere at the top by beating them 4-3 in a cracking game.
The top-of-the-table clash began in Belvedere's favour when they raced into a 3-1 lead. Michael Walker and Adrian Brown kicked it off in the first half, before Hunwick pulled one back through Sean Nicholson before the break. Lee Nixon then made it 3-1 to Belvedere, but Hunwick stormed back into the game in dramatic fashion when goals by Aidan McCabe, Lee Genner and Steven Howe completed the impressive comeback.
"It was a cracking game!" admitted Belvedere Secretary Karl Thompson. "We decided to play defensively and it seemed to be working, but they found spaces in the second half and probably deserved to win in the end."
Hunwick defender and goalscorer McCabe said: "We had a lot of pressure and deserved to score four goals, but it was very close."
Meanwhile, previous leaders North Briton, now fourth, and third-placed Masons Arms played out a 1-1 draw.
Elsewhere, Voltigeur and Shildon Athletic drew 2-2, Eldon Arms won 4-2 at Middlestone Moor and Cumby Arms won 4-3 at Masons United.
