RESIDENTS moving into a housing scheme in Stockton were welcomed by primary school pupils.

Endeavour Housing Association, in partnership with Stockton Borough Council's housing and social care departments and the Housing Corporation, completed the scheme in Sycamore Way, Stockton, last month.

To launch the scheme, a communal Christmas tree was put up and Councillor Martyn Ingram, the council's cabinet member for housing switched on festive lights.

A choir and ukulele band from Hardwick Primary School led communal carol singing.

The scheme offers six two-bedroomed adapted bungalows to meet the needs of people with a physical disability or sensory loss.

Charlie Hughes, chief executive of Endeavour, said: "The bungalows meet the Housing Corporation's Physical Disability Standard for wheelchair use.

"They also include individual gardens, security system, warden call facility, door entry system, cooker and own car parking space."

On the same site, there are two, four-bedroomed houses with one of the houses having a single flat attached.

Mr Hughes said: "This service is for people with learning disabilities and will be managed on Endeavour's behalf by Choices Community Care.

"One of our major objectives is to work with our local authority partners to help them fulfil their individual housing strategies, and this is a good example of partnership in action."
