JUNIOR golfers are starting the New Year in style thanks to a local car dealer.
Romanby Golf Club Juniors, based at Northallerton, have won a sponsorship deal worth more than £2,000 with Simon Bailes Ltd.
The youngsters are now sporting specially-designed gear when they take to the fairways. The 80-strong junior section has been playing in the Harrogate Union for two years and is already seventh in the league. Five of the team are also single-figure handicappers.
The managing director of the dealership, Simon Bailes, said: "I am delighted to be able to support young people within our community and help them to achieve their own personal goals and ambitions.
"The sponsorship will allow the team members to develop their talent while learning team-building and other skills. I also hope they will have lots of fun."
The co-ordinator of the junior golfers, Neil Bellerby, said the sponsorship had been vital for the club.
"It means we can participate fully in more competitions and allows the team to broaden their horizons," he said.
