The League finally got the outstanding League Cup tie between Darlington The Mowden and Skerne Park played after the third time of asking.
Mowden mastered the conditions the better and went in 3-0 up at half-time with goals from Ritchie Dodsworth, Scott Hodgson and Callum Rielly. In the second half as the game Skerne Park outfit tired further goals came from Hodgson, Adam Wilson and a hat-trick from man of the match Gary Varty, Skerne Park got a late consolation
Darlington GSOB put up a good show on their visit to Stillington holding the home side The Royal to 2-2 at the interval, on the turnround Royal used the wind to their advantage adding a further two without reply, Paul Cleary (2), Wayne Muldowney and Mark Warnes scoring for Royal, David Llewellyn and John Shields replied.
Shildon Elm Road WMC had little difficulty overcoming Darlington Dalesman - who had a number of their main players missing - putting ten away without reply, even so those who did turn up put up a good fight against their stronger opposition. Daniel Chadwick hit a hat-trick with a brace going to Craig Dawson, then one apiece going to Carl Dawson, Thomas Loudon, Darryl Meadows, Craig Evans and Gary Scott.
Darlington Stadia had to make a comeback against Chilton Community College, going behind 3-2 at the interval. There was a big transformation in the second as they scored three more without conceding any, David Turnbull was another hat-trick man, a pair went to Lee Hammond with Paul Pope rounding off their scoring.
In the only other league fixture between Hurworth Emerson Arms and Darlington Archdeacon the game was abandoned when an Archdeacon player sustained a badly broken leg. The League wishes the boy well for a good, speedy recovery.
Congratulations to Tindale WMC who join The Royal in the last eight of the Durham Minor Cup after their 3-2 victory over Ferryhill Greyhound who fought back after Tindale had gone three up through Paul Foster, Andrew Fairley and Billy Latcham.
The League's other side involved Darlington Travellers Rest were not so fortunate. After a good first half against Newton Ayclffe FC which ended 4-3 to Aycliffe, Travellers fell away badly to finally go out 9-3.
