In the premier, Norton & Stockton, who are fighting desperately to avoid relegation, lost 6-4 at home to league leaders Steels Social.
It was a game of two halves, the first belonging to the visitors and the second to the home side. Norton took the lead after four minutes when Mark Steel scored, but this early reverse stung Steels into attacking and they struck back mounting attack after attack and goals from Henderson (2), Carroll (2), Tate and Kennedy gave them a 6-1 interval lead. The restart saw Norton's comeback, first Keith Aldridge scored with a fine solo effort then Colin Heffron netted to make it 6-3. Steels tried hard to regain the initiative only to see Norton's keeper Kevin Beesley pull off a fantastic spot kick save to deny them. In the closing minutes Mark Steel scored his second of the game to make it 4-6. Form such as Norton displayed in the second half could stave off relegation.

The restart saw Wardley Green still attacking and a fine solo run by Joyce ended with him beating the keeper and scoring his second goal to make 2-0. The match was virtually over when Joyce was fouled by the keeper and Peter Duggan slotted home the spot kick to put Green 3-0 up. Outstanding player for Wardley was centre back Ken Scott.

After the restart Pools went 2-0 up when Kevin Gibbons' pass found Barry Waller who cleverly lobbed the keeper from the edge of the box. Five minutes from time Peaden scored with a screamer from 25 yards to put Aycliffe back in the game only for Pools to come straight back and score through David Boagie and end the game 3-1 up. Ian McAvoy and Paul Reid had excellent games.
