A THEATRE company is desperately seeking a camel skeleton and a life-size replica horse for its latest production.

The stage management team at Northern Stage, in Newcastle, has already located three rocking horses, a grandmother clock, a tin bath and an antique sewing table.

The Northern Echo is providing 50 copies of the newspaper for the performance of The New Tenant by Eugene Ionesco in the Gulbenkian Studio Theatre.

They are among hundreds of props needed for the play in which a gentleman becomes entombed by his possessions when he moves into a new apartment.

The search for a replica horse and camel skeleton is urgent as the opening night is on February 23.

This isn't the first time, stage management has had to find odd props. "For one production we were asked to find a live monkey," said deputy stage manager Andy Stephenson. "Unfortunately we were unable to find one."
