SIR BOBBY ROBSON last night revealed that Craig Bellamy has suffered another injury set-back and is out of Wales' friendly with Scotland next week.

There is concern about Bellamy, who marked his return to the starting line-up with a goal in last night's 1-1 draw at Blackburn, after his knee swelled up following a challenge with Lucas Neill.

And Robson admits that there are worries over how serious the speedy striker's problem is, with the player having only just recovered from a tendinitis operation which has sidelined him since October.

The Newcastle boss, who has also told England not to consider Jonathan Woodgate, said: "He has suffered a slight knee injury. It has puffed up and he has got some fluid in there. I didn't think it was a good tackle and the boy has suffered.

"I'll inform Mark Hughes (Wales' manager) about Craig's injury. Craig might have to have a scan. He is limping badly. He can't think about international football. He's injured."

Bellamy and Neill scuffled as the two sides headed for the dressing rooms on the half-time whistle after the Newcastle star was fouled near the corner flag.

The 24-year-old lay on the floor holding his knee as fresh fears emerged that another injury set-back could be on the cards.

Meanwhile, Liverpool's victory over Manchester City ensured that the Reds leapfrogged the Magpies in the race to finish fourth.

And Newcastle were left to rue another missed opportunity against a side battling against relegation as they recorded their eighth away draw of the campaign and their sixth in a row on their travels.

Robson, whose side let a slender lead slip when Jon Stead equalised, said: "Draws are better than defeats and we were lucky to be in the game at half-time. Our attitude was poor and they took criticism well. I didn't like my team at all at half-time.

"I've got mixed feelings because we could have been a few goals down. We didn't track back and they were in the ascendancy.

"Second half we were much better and I was pleased with the players' attitude. It was more even but I didn't think we would lose it.

"We got a goal from Bellamy and he did very well. Their goal came as a shock to us. We over-played on the left side and Gallagher made a good cross to Stead. But it is probably the right result overall."

Blackburn boss Graeme Souness, whose side have not won on home soil now for five matches, paid Stead the ultimate tribute after the rookie striker rescued a point for Blackburn against Newcastle - by likening his goal to an Alan Shearer strike.

Stead, signed for £1.25m from Third Division Huddersfield last week, scored his second goal in two games from the tightest of angles to ram home Paul Gallagher's peach of a cross.

Souness said: ''It was a really aggressive finish. It was rather like a throwback to Alan Shearer, the old master at the other end who showed again what a fantastic player he is - the best there has been in my time, he's just horrible to play against."
