QUAKERS' captain Neil Maddison took time out from training on Monday to present two awards to his former school.
The midfielder visited Dodmire Junior School in Darlington where he presented staff and pupils with Healthy School and Heartwise awards. The awards are given out by the local education authority and the NHS to schools which promote healthy living.
Headteacher Robert Mellard said: "The school had to be vetted on things like the curriculum, the facilities on offer, even down to the food being served at lunchtime.
"We also had to submit a healthy action plan for the next two years. Now we have got this quality mark we have got to work to keep it."
