CHRIS Turner brought Mark Tinkler back to the North-East, but the in-form Hartlepool United midfielder won't mind piling on more home misery for his former boss this weekend.

Pool go to Hillsborough on Saturday for a third meeting of the season with Turner's Sheffield Wednesday.

Neale Cooper's side have enjoyed a Carling Cup penalty shoot-out win and a Division Two draw in previous meetings.

Turner's side have only won three times in 15 attempts at home this season and Bishop Auckland-born Tinkler, signed by Turner from Southend in November 2000, admits Pool are looking to make the most of their opponent's home troubles.

"Hillsborough will be a tough place to go to but they are not doing too well in the league at the moment,'' he said.

"It will be hard but if we work as hard as we have been doing lately away from home, then I am sure we can get something.''

Tinkler scored in last week's 2-2 draw at Barnsley, his second goal in three games, to double his tally for the season.

He netted 13 times last season in Division Three and boss Cooper said: "Tinks got another goal at the weekend and I know he hasn't got as many as last year, but he is playing in a harder league now.

"He's got two in three and he scored at a vital time when they were pushing a wee bit. It was great finish.''

Tinkler, on stage at the weekend as Pool collected the Team of the Year award at the North-East Sports Awards, said: "I swivelled on a sixpence and slotted it in the bottom corner.

"It is always nice to score and I am trying as much as I can to help the lads in that department.

"It is important for the midfielders and the centre-halves to score every now and then.

"It was nice to come away with a draw from a place like Barnsley, who are a good side. We had a couple of good chances to win it but we didn't take them so we can't complain at getting just a point.''

* On-loan midfielder Chris Shuker has signed to stay at Victoria Park for a further month.
