A CHEEKY thief who walked out of a busy supermarket with a TV and DVD player was given a chance by a judge yesterday.
George Jones was spotted by security guards as he tried to leave the Kwik Save store in Roker, Sunderland, on November 15, last year.
Newcastle Crown Court heard how the 22-year-old admitted stealing the £139 appliance and told police he had planned to sell it. He has a string of previous convictions.
Jones, of Villette Road, Sunderland, pleaded guilty to theft and had also admitted burglary at a house where nothing was taken. He was sentenced to a 12- month drug treatment and testing order.
