COLLEGE students are to have their achievements recognised at an annual ceremony.

Hartlepool College of Further Education holds its awards ceremony today, when certificates and awards will be presented to about 45 students. The ceremony will end with the presentation of a trophy to the student of the year.

The awards will be presented by Hartlepool MP Peter Mandelson. Former radio presenter Alan Wright will be master of ceremonies.

College principal and chief executive Anthony Sutcliffe said: "At Hartlepool College we want each student or business we work with to feel that the college has given them a competitive advantage.

"We aim to do this through helping to give people skills, qualifications, experience, confidence and contacts that help them to move from where they are now to where they want to be."
