VISITORS should soon have no trouble in finding their way around a seaside town.

Brown signs are being installed to point the way to Saltburn's attractions, including the Victorian pier, the cliff lift, the Valley Gardens and the Smugglers Centre.

The signs have been funded by the Tees Valley Partnership, a group of tourism professionals led by bed and breakfast owner Trevor Hawkins.

Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council's tourism promotion officer Julie Marsden said: "The brown signs are going to be a very useful promotional tool in increasing the popularity of Saltburn as a day visitor destination, and the partnership has got a lot more exciting plans in store.''

The plans include applying for funding to improve the Smugglers Centre and the funicular railway.

Ms Marsden said: "It's very important to provide a structural body for tourism in the borough. We'll be discussing how tourism should go forward and we'll develop projects through a variety of funding sources."
