Singles finals, Nottingham: Thornaby youngster Paul Mosley won the U25 singles title at Nottingham at the weekend in a competition played to a three sets format that called for a three-end play-off if scores were level.
Paul was 0-8 9-3 7-2 first round winner against W Bailey (St Neots) and he won his next game against L Botten (Haverhill) 9-1 1-10 8-3. C Gale (Blackpool Borough) was beaten 2-10 6-6 7-1 2-0 in the quarter-final.
In the semi-final the Northern hope was a 7-5 5-5 8-6 winner over M Vickery of the host club and went on to the title with a straight sets 8-3 6-3-4 success over S Adcock (Wymondham Dell).
