A FAMILY from the region could be the first to endure a new reality experiment.

However, in contrast to the I'm a Celebrity contestants who had to face the creepy-crawlies of the Australian jungle, the family will be filmed at home, and their every move relayed over the Internet for 100 days - to compete for an £11,250 prize.

Digital imaging company Epson began its hunt for contestants last year and has whittled the contenders down to ten families.

They include the Farquhar family - financial manager Simon, 35, wife Amanda, 37, a receptionist, and children Anna and Thomas, of Richmond, North Yorkshire, who will face a panel of judges.

"We're a little nervous because we're not used to being in the spotlight but, generally, I'd say we are all normally calm and laid back,'' said Mrs Farquhar.

"Cameras may mean we do things a little differently but that could be an incentive to be a little more active than we are already."

Epson's marketing communications manager, Jane Barnard, said: "The rationale behind the project is to use a family who think they are typical, to show that everyday family life is in fact varied and interesting, with many events worth documenting through digital imaging."

The Epson Experiment will be launched on Monday, March 15, when images of the chosen family will be screened on www.the-epson-family.co.uk
