A VIDEO store assistant gritted his teeth and had his legs waxed for charity yesterday.

Jamie Colclough, 20, who works at the Blockbusters store in Darlington's North Road had his legs waxed by Christine Blakeburn, of Beauty at the Top, to raise money for the Starlight Children's Foundation.

"It didn't hurt as much as I thought it would. I was press-ganged into it by everyone else at work, but it is for a good cause," he said.

Mr Colclough hopes to raise about £350 and the store will continue collecting for the charity until Sunday, February 22.

The Grange Road Blockbusters store in the town is also organising a sponsored car wash today, to raise money for the charity.

The Starlight charity aims to brighten the lives of seriously and terminally ill children by granting their wishes and providing hospital entertainment to help take their minds off the pain, fear and isolation caused by their illnesses.
