BUILDING work on an extension that will provide more office space at Staindrop Comprehensive School is due to begin shortly.
The school has been given permission to build an extension to the main office, which will nearly double the amount of space available for secretarial and support staff at the school.
Headteacher Brian Kinnair said he was hoping building work would start by Easter at the latest.
He said: "Hopefully it won't be too long a job, as we've got to find a temporary office while it is being done.
"When it is finished it will provide a much better working environment for the support staff, who are getting much more involved in the school as part of the Teacher Workforce Reform."
Mr Kinnair said that all the work would comply with the latest disabled access legislation.
