A BUILDING boss vowed not to shave until an exclusive five-star hotel was complete, but is now losing face after an eight-month delay.
Brian McGurk is fuming at the setbacks holding up the opening of the £28m Tyneside Hilton Hotel, because every day that passes, his beard grows.
The hotel should have been completed last June but still awaits an opening date.
In November, Mr McGurk, 44, vowed not to shave until the job was done.
He expected a fortnight's growth at most. He said: "I must admit that I felt a bit foolish, but I am determined that I will stick to my word."
Mr McGurk is confident he will be able to shave his beard soon. He said: "I can see no reason the building should not be finished in a matter of weeks."
