CRAIG LIDDLE has issued a stern warning to prospective buyers by insisting there is only one man fit to manage Darlington - and he's already there.

Liddle's outburst comes days after former Carlisle manager Roddy Collins' revelations that he could succeed David Hodgson as Quakers boss if Irish businessman Des Kelly takes over the cash-strapped club.

Liddle has reacted angrily to suggestions that Hodgson could be replaced .

"We're all 100 per-cent behind the gaffer and I think the character of the lads showed that on Saturday," said Liddle.

"The lads weren't happy at all with what they read in the papers earlier in the week and I would be the first to admit that it did effect us.

"We don't need that kind of disruption when we've already got so much to think about.

"We went to Bristol and hopefully put all that behind us.

"The gaffer has done a superb job and the lads are all pulling together."

It was Liddle's spectacular 74th minute volley which broke the deadlock on Saturday, before Barry Conlon added two more.

And the former skipper man was happy to talk through his fourth goal of the season.

He said: "It sat up perfectly for me and as soon as I hit it I knew that it was going in. It was a great feeling when it landed in the back of the net.

"I didn't think we were going to concede and once we got that first goal I think that was it."

"We're confident in keeping clean sheets and as long as we get the first goal we are confident we can go on and win games. We're not getting carried away because we know there's still a long way to go.

After Saturday's win at the Memorial Stadium, Liddle dedicated his wonder goal to his dad, who died of cancer last year.

"Since my dad died in December I've waited to score one for him," said Liddle. "So that one was for him."
