Dozy soccer fan Anthony Crozier blew £800 on tickets to see his team in Europe - but got the wrong Spanish city.

The bird-brained Magpies fan thought Newcastle were playing in Malaga instead of Mallorca.

Toon fans were thrilled when their team was drawn to play Spanish club Real Mallorca last week.

Anthony was so caught-up in the excitement he rushed to get flights for himself and his friends.

But he mistakenly booked five tickets, at a cost of £804, to Malaga, a city on mainland Spain, instead of the Mediterranean island.

He realised his blunder afterwards but has been left out of pocket as the airline charged him a handling fee for the original booking, although they have refunded the majority of his money.

And now its too late to book tickets to Palma, Majorca, so the lads will have to watch the match at home.

The 32-year-old civil engineer, who lives in Gosforth, said: "I don't know how I made the mistake. I just don't have an answer for it."

A spokesman for Easyjet said: "EasyJet has a grace period of 12 hours after the booking in which the customer can change the tickets.

"He was charged an administration fee of £30 for getting the refund. "There will still be a small cancellation fee, but we will slash the original fee by 50 per cent."
