ROCKET Science has been chosen to manage the marketing and sponsorship of the Stockton International Riverside Festival for the next three years.

The marketing agency was appointed by Stockton Borough Council.

This year's festival, taking place between July 29 and August 1, is expected to attract performers from 17 countries and more than 150,000 visitors.

The programme features dancers, comedians and circus performers, as well as river activity such as Dragon Boats and an open-air theatre.

The appointment will enable Rocket Science to build on the experience of its work with the festival last year, when the agency launched an extensive data collection programme for the first time in order to build up a database of festival visitors.

Reuben Kench, strategic arts officer at Stockton Borough Council, said: "By combining strong creative messaging with a scientific approach to targeting, Rocket Science has enabled the festival to attract a wider audience, including people living in areas of Stockton borough who traditionally have never visited cultural events."
