GIFTED youngsters have won through to the next round of the talentSTAR competition after auditions at Ferryhill Business and Enterprise College.
The final winners will receive prizes enabling them to further their musical careers.
A total of 55 students formed 23 acts. The winners were year 11 pupils Craig Bowmer, Michael Herron, Karl Nattras, Jason Pybus and Kyle Spender, who performed Westlife's version of Mandy.
Other successful acts were: Chantel Burleigh, supported by Samantha Cooke and Sarah Buckle; a rock band made up of Stephanie Dawson, Billy Armstrong, Michael Smith and Nichola Ross; Charlotte Smith; Kelly McWaters; and a group made up of year eight pupils Emma and Kate Gillies, Alex Simpson, Kimberley Lowie, Melissa Thirkell and Laura Smith.
