YOUNGSTERS training for a career in the armed services are now dressed for the part.

Students on the Uniformed Services Course at Middlesbrough College, Middlesbrough, have been donated new track suit jackets by the Green Howards.

The jackets are similar to those worn by soldiers of the regiment and particularly by the regiment's boxing and rugby teams, both of which recently won Army competitions.

The 1st Battalion, which is about to leave for a six-month tour of duty in Afghanistan, has presented 72 of the jackets to students on the course, which prepares young men and women for the armed forces, police or fire service.

Two of the course tutors have previously served with the Green Howards.

Captain Steve Mincher, Officer Commanding the Regimental Recruiting Team based at Catterick, said: "This is one of the best courses in the North for young people planning a career in one of the uniformed services, and the Green Howards are delighted to have been able to donate these jackets.

We hope that the students will be proud to be associated with the Regiment."
