Darlington continue their fight to avoid relegation tomorrow in good spirits after last Saturday's 1-1 draw at Division Three leaders Doncaster Rovers.

They left Belle Vue disappointed that they hadn't secured all three points after the home side's late equaliser, but they will take on Torquay United at the Reynolds Arena with renewed confidence.

The Gulls are going well in third place, but David Hodgson's side will feel they have nothing to fear after running Doncaster so close.

They responded well to the disappointing home defeat by Cambridge United, defending stoutly as the home side used the strong wind to put the Quakers rearguard under pressure in the first half.

Joey Hutchinson justified his recall to the starting line-up with an assured display, while keeper Michael Price recovered well from his Cambridge nightmare with several fine saves.

Having weathered the storm, Quakers went ahead just before the hour mark.

Mark Convery was on target for the second successive match, curling a shot into the bottom corner after picking up a short corner from Craig Russell.

There was only four minutes left to play when Rovers grabbed a point. Substitute Adebayo Akinfenwa was on hand to knock in the equaliser after Price had parried a shot from Paul Green.

The result lifted Darlington two places to 17th, but they are only four points clear of the relegation places as the battle to escape the drop intensifies.

Hodgson may be forced into defensive changes for tomorrow's game as Matt Clarke was forced off at Belle Vue suffering from a dead leg and Hutchinson was struggling with a hamstring strain after the match.

Young striker Danny Graham, signed on loan from Middlesbrough, will also be pushing for a starting place after scoring for the reserves in a 2-2 draw with Hartlepool on Wednesday.
