League Cup quarter -final contestants had to put up with some rather windy conditions, it then came down to who mastered the conditions the better, even so there were still three very competitive ties.

The duel of the Working Mens Clubs at Shildon where Elm Road overcame Tindale four goals to two, kicking with the wind Elm Road took a two goal lead, Tindale pulled one back before Elm made it 3-1 at the break, on the turnround Tindale hit back with a second but Elm Road weren't to be denied and struck again to make the tie safe, Darryl Meadows 2, Carl and Craig Dawson scored for Elm with Andrew Fairley and Paul Foster replying for Tindale.

Chilton Community College were against the wind in the first half against Hurworth Emerson Arms and found themselves trailing two nil at half-time, it was all change in the second as College hit back to go through to the semi's three-two with goals from David Tate, Andrew Russell and David Harrison.

It was the same score in the Darlington Archdeacon versus Darlington Stadia, Archdeacon had the better of the first half to go two up, Ian Thompson latching on to a good through ball to beat the keeper and then a wind assisted effort by Ian Blewitt for the second, Stadia fought back in the second to level but Thompson broke away to seal the tie for Archdeacon. In the remaining tie Darlington Dalesman were let down and could only field nine players against Darlington The Mowden, although they put up a could show the result was inevitable with Mowden scoring at regular intervals to run out 11-0 winners, a couple went to Ritchie Dodsworth, Callum Rielly and Steve Thompson, one apiece went to Scott Hodgson, Richard Brown, Gary Varty, James Middleton and Richard Davy.

In the league Darlington GSOB were without a recognised keeper against Darlington Travellers Rest so secretary Tim Burton stepped into the breech but was unable to stop Travellers putting seven past him whilst his forwards were unable to score at the other end. Chris Marksby topped the scoring for Travellers with a hat-trick, a brace went to Ritchie Wilkinson with one apiece for Adam Bately and Paul Griffiths.
