EDWIN JOWSEY was unable to build on all of his good work in his latest outing. The weather was extremely windy and dry until 10.30am and then it rained heavy and it caused all drivers no end of problems.

The cars were set up for dry weather and there was not enough time to alter to suit the conditions and where Edwin has always had pole position since he started racing on his 16th birthday it came to the situation where he only got sixth fastest in the practise due to the car not set up for wet weather conditions and being first out did not know how many cars were behind him.

During the practice laps no one passed him and his time showed he was sixth fastest where he had to start sixth on the grid being one and a half seconds slower than five cars in front of him when he finished.

For the afternoon race 90 per cent of the track had dried out so the car was fuelled up for dry weather (when raining fuel consumption is only half).

Edwin, being in sixth position on the grid, passed four cars before the first right hand bend meaning there were only two cars in front of him. During the next lap Edwin passed another car and time was lost because of dry and wet surfaces.

With five laps to go he took the lead and pulled away and with four laps to go the engine cut out on a bend due to fuel starvation during which the car behind caught up and became entangled and Edwin's car jumped in the air and was thrown into the barriers damaging the car. The other car was thrown into the barriers and was also damaged.

The car is now undergoing repairs before the next outing at Donington on Sunday, April 11.

Edwin was marked down as having the fasted lap.
