Stokesley SC plundered another five goals on Saturday to reach the final of the Sunderland Shipowners' Cup. They have now scored no fewer than 17 in their last three games.

Windscale were the latest side to feel their scoring power as they succumbed to a 5-1 defeat.

Dean Talukder set the scene when he converted a tenth minute penalty and from then on it was all downhill for the Cumbrians who conceded further goals to Tony Sivills (2), Adam Bramley and Jonathan Newton before Peter O'Donnell claimed a late consolation.

North Shields will meet Stokesley in the final after they defeated rival championship contenders Birtley Town 2-0.

David Little gave the Robins a perfect start, scoring direct from a corner kick after just 14 minutes but Birtley battled back and were unlucky when Anthony Lynch rounded goalkeeper David Lanning only to see his shot rebound from the upright.

Just after the restart though the home side's hopes receded as Michael Kelly scored a second goal for North Shields following an accurate centre by Andy Stokes.

In the League, Cleadon consolidated fourth position defeating New Marske 5-1.

Charlie Eels scored first for the Seasiders but there was no holding Cleadon once they levelled. Youngster Andrew Quinn rifled a hat-trick before Peter Brand and Owen Peterson (pen) took the total to five.

Wolviston did even better in the scoring stakes putting six past Ferryhill Athletic who failed to respond. All the goals came in the opening 55 minutes from David Johnson (2), Keiron White, Carl Brunskill, Shaun Spratt and Paul Kreczak.

Darlington RA showed better form and were rewarded with a 3-1 victory at Barnard Castle Glaxo whose only goal came from Stuart Murray. Martin Brown bagged a brace with Rob Morley RA's other marksman with a tremendous individual effort.

There was a close result at Ryhope CW who edged Jarrow 3-2 despite establishing a three-goal lead with strikes by Alan Surtees (2) and Stephen Rochester. Mark Lally and Stuart Adamson scored late in the game to raise the hopes of Jarrow but the Wearsiders held on.

Boldon CA and Gateshead Reserves were involved in a six-goals thriller which ended all-square.

Mark Williams, Lee Seff and Gordon Williams were on the mark for Boldon with Paul Gibb, John Saucher and Paul Buzzeo finding the net for Gateshead.
