DARLINGTON boss David Hodgson has warned his players to keep on their toes with league safety not yet assured.

Despite opening up a six-point gap above the relegation zone after Saturday's 2-0 win over Oxford, Hodgson insists Quakers' fight against the drop is far from over with three games remaining.

And with a testing trip to promotion-chasing Lincoln this weekend, Hodgson said: "Not for one minute can we relax because we still have a job to do.

"I was pleased with the way the lads responded after the Southend game. The win over Oxford has given us a bit of breathing space but it doesn't end there.

"We have another tough game down at Lincoln on Saturday and we need to make sure we're safe with a another good result."

Hodgson expects to welcome back skipper Neil Maddison at Sincil Bank after the former Southampton and Darlington midfielder missed the win over Oxford with a knee problem.

The Quakers boss is also boosted by the news defender Craig Liddle suffered no adverse reaction to a stomach injury in the win over Oxford.

Former Sheffield Wednesday and England striker David Hirst is the latest player to confirm his place in this Sunday's charity match at the Reynolds Arena.

Hirst will play for a David Hodgson XI - consisting of former internationals - against a Granada TV XI.

Paul Gascoigne, Peter Beardsley, Eric Black, Bryan Gunn, Kelham O'Hanlon and Paul Walsh have already agreed to take part in the fundraiser.

"All them lads are coming because they want to help Darlington Football Club," said Hodgson.

"I'm sure it will be an enjoyable day and hopefully it will be on the back of a good result at Lincoln."

The game kicks off at 1.30pm and tickets are priced £8 adults and £4 concessions. Executive boxes are available at £150. All bookings can be made by contacting (01325) 387030.
