CENTERPARCS is considering developing a fifth UK holiday village.

The company said the launch of another site was one of a number of options it was looking at.

The news came as it reported a strong performance since last year's flotation.

The options include expansion of the group's four villages at Longleat Forest, near Bath, Oasis Whinfell Forest, in the Lake District, Sherwood Forest, near Nottingham, and Elveden Forest, in Suffolk, CenterParcs said.

A spokesman said any new village would take at least three years to develop, but declined to give further details.

He said: "We are looking at a number of possible locations, but that is all we can say at the moment."

The company, which floated on the Alternative Investment Market in December, said its results for the 20 weeks to April 22 would meet expectations.

It said that bookings received for the year to April next year had been strong. The group said it had seen continued strong demand for short breaks at its four holiday villages, with average occupancy for the full year to April running at 94 per cent.

CenterParcs said it was particularly pleased with bookings and profitability at Elveden, which has been rebuilt.

It said the benefits of investment in better facilities at its other villages would show next year's results.

Each village has woodland and water with a range of individual villas or apartments close to indoor and outdoor sport and leisure facilities.

The group employs about 4,000 full and part-time staff.

It made its debut on the London market in December after being sold by MidOcean partners to bid vehicle Arbor, which comprised a consortium of fund managers advised by Collins Stewart, in a £285m deal.

The company is expected to report full year pre-tax profits of £23.4m, compared with £19.8m last time.
