A man who was filmed on CCTV trying to kidnap a teenage girl was told he faced a jail sentence after he pleaded guilty.

Dieter Graw, 46, appeared at Hull Crown Court charged with kidnapping the 16-year-old girl on June 27 last year.

Graw, of Booty Cottage, Great Heck, North Yorkshire, admitted unlawfully and by force or fraud taking or carrying away the teenager against her will.

Adjourning the case for sentencing, Judge Jackie Davies said: ''The court needs to assess the element of risk that there is, bearing in mind the unusual nature of this matter.

''You will receive a custodial sentence, I warn you of that now.''

Graw, a married railway worker, was charged in January this year after CCTV footage of the incident in Doncaster, South Yorkshire, was shown on national television.

South Yorkshire Police received hundreds of calls from the public after they released footage of Graw grabbing the girl as she walked along in the early hours of the morning.

The footage, shot by one of the cameras in the town's CCTV system, showed Graw walking up to the teenager, trying to chat to her and then bundling her into the bushes.

The film then showed the pair struggling before they went out of sight and the girl then managed to break free.

Yesterday Graw spoke only to confirm his name and enter his guilty plea.

The case was adjourned until June 18 for pre-sentence reports and Graw was remanded in custody.
