MAN OF the moment Adam Boyd admits there is no fear in the Hartlepool United camp.

Pool are at Swindon today and know that a point would be enough to secure a play-off spot in their first season back in Division Two.

Neale Cooper's side will be backed by around 1,200 fans and, with Swindon selling over 10,000 tickets, a gate well in excess of Town's average of 7,666 is assured.

Boyd, who this week won two player-of-the-month awards for April, said: "It could be a great day for the club, but let's think about that later. We have already beaten them this season and our away form is great, so there is nothing to fear.

"We have been in this position before going into the last game of the season with the play-offs to go for, so we have the experience.

"I think we are the form team at the moment - apart from last week of course - and our performances have been good.

"Swindon are a good side and we have to go there and play our normal game. The pressure is on them as much as us.

"Look at our away form, it is the best in the league. We will go there with no fear.''

Pool suffered their fifth home defeat of the season last weekend, when champions Plymouth triumphed 3-1.

As Pool left the Victoria Park pitch they were greeted by the news that Port Vale had scored a late winner over Tranmere, which means the race for a top-six spot goes to the wire.

Vale are at Rusden today and Boyd said: "We didn't know the score last week at all. Then we came off and found out Port Vale scored late on, but there's nothing we can do about it.

"It's all down to us; if we draw or win we are in the play-offs, it's simple.

"We were disappointed to lose like we did last week. We went in front and then they scored straight away - whether the lad meant it or not I don't know.

"They got a lucky break to go in front and then we were unlucky with the own goal.

"I found it tough last week against their two centre-halves - they were probably the best pairing I have played against.''

Swindon boss Andy King, who believed Pool boss Cooper was steward at Victoria Park and demanded he made him a cup of tea when the teams met earlier this season, has vowed to go flat out for the win.

He said: "We're the home team, I can't be negative because that could transfer to the terraces and then the nervousness spreads all round the ground.

"I'm positive, I'm just hoping Neale Cooper is going to be negative. The game is of massive importance and you can't hide away from that.

"The highs are fantastic, the lows are the worst. Saturday will bring either the highs or the lows.

"I'm dreading the worst-case scenario of seventh place in the league. But on our day we're the best side in this division. This is another game against a Second Division side. It's Hartlepool United, not Manchester United."

Pool skipper Ritchie Humphreys said: "This week is all about relaxing and preparing ourselves for Saturday. A few of us have played almost 50 games this season."
