GROUP MEETS: Yarm and District group of the National Women's Register (NWR) meets on alternate Tuesdays.

The next meeting is at 7.45pm on Tuesday. Frank Dunne, of the Soldiers, Sailors and Airmen's Family Association will speak. NWR is a group for women to take part in talks, debates and social activities and make friends. Meetings are held in members' homes. To join, call (01642) 888294.

Children's club: Links between Egglescliffe Primary School and St John's Church continue with weekly sessions culminating in a joint morning worship on Whit Sunday, May 30, at 10am. The final session until the autumn will be after the half-term holiday with a children's party.

SCHOOL GROUP: Yarm Preparatory School's social committee is holding a meeting with cheese and wine at 7.45pm on Wednesday. This committee is looking for a chairman, vice-chairman, treasurer, secretary and members to organise activities, make friends and have fun.

Scout fair: First Eggle-scliffe Scout and Cubs troop will hold a fair on Saturday, at Egglescliffe Primary School, from noon to 4pm. Admission is 50p. The troop meets in the Scout Hut in Croft Road, Eaglescliffe, and caters for boys and girls from six upwards.

Carpet bowls: Carpet bowls can be played at Egglescliffe Community Centre. Mixed sessions are held at 7pm on Mondays, and ladies' sessions are at 2pm on Tuesdays. Admission is £1. To join, call Mr Appleton on (01642) 652530.

WI INVITE: Ladies are welcome to join the WI group, which meets on the first Tuesday of each month at All Saint's Church, Swinburne Road, Eaglescliffe, from 7.30pm to 9.30pm. To join, call Kath Richardson on (01642) 782711.

Line Dancing: Line dancing takes place on Fridays, from 1.45pm to 3.15pm, at Eggle-scliffe Community Centre, Durham Lane, Eaglescliffe. All ages are welcome. It costs £1.50 for members and £1.70 for non-members.

CHURCH fair: A fair will be held on Saturday at St Francis Church Centre, Barwick Way, from 2pm to 4pm. Admission is 50p for adults and 20p for children. Proceeds will go to the church building fund.

Line dance : People are invited to a charity line dance evening with faith supper (supply own drinks) on Saturday, May 22, at Egglescliffe Community Centre. Dancing is from 7.30pm to 11pm. Tickets are £2.50.

ASCENSION service: There will be a Eucharist service to mark Ascension Day in St John's Church, Butts Lane, Egglescliffe, at 7.30pm next Thursday.
