Thirsk Falcons: THE Under-12s were at the Wigginton six-a-side tournament last Sunday and finished top of their group, winning against Selby A 1-0 with a Liam Cook goal.

They drew 1-1 with Richmond B with Joe Barwick scoring, beat Osbaldwick 2-0 with Barwick getting both goals and beat Darlington Albion A 3-1 with a Liam Cook hat-trick. They then went into the quarter-finals unbeaten and played Bedlington Tigers who were also unbeaten but unfortunately lost 1-0. A great team performance and they should all be pleased with themselves because out of 30 teams they got through to the last eight.

A good performance from keeper Sam Robinson, some great defending from Matty Davison, Sean Taylorson and Andrew Bustard, hard-working midfielders Luke Williams and Will Baker and two quick thinking forwards Liam Cook and Joe Barwick.

Bishop Auckland Barrington Wanderers

Barrington Wanderers played the last game of the season at home in a local derby against Bishop Auckland College United. The points were shared in a 0-0 draw. The College defended well and always had at least eight men behind the ball which made it impossible to score, with the Barrington keeper rarely getting even a sight of the ball. Ryan Jackman was once again named man of the match.

Unfortunately, for personal reasons, this was the last game for the current manager and secretary, but anyone wishing to take a group of 14 lads into the Under-17s next year could not get a better squad. The newly formed team was only beaten twice in the league all season and managed to get to the semi-final of the league cup only to be beaten by a Premiership team.

Darlington Mount Pleasant Rangers

Mount Pleasant Rangers Under-12s A won the Wiggington Tournament recently.

The Under-12s, sponsored by Magnet Ltd, played in the tournament at York and in their first game against Wiggington B won convincingly 4-0 with scorers being Craig Swainston, Nick Petch, Nathan Wilson and Ben BT Turnbull.

The next game was against Real Cliffe A which they won a goal to nil. Rangers scorer was Nick Petch.

The third game saw them play against Brompton who they beat 1-0 with a Wilson goal.

The fourth and final qualifying game saw them play against local rivals 21st Colts White who they beat convincingly 5-0 with Wilson (3), Swainston and Petch scoring as keeper Tom Smalley did not concede a single goal in this round.

The quarter final saw them play a strong and determined North Ormesby who wanted the victory as bad as Rangers. The game was tight and end to end which ended in penalties after a 0-0 draw after extra time.

The penalties were tense but Rangers came out the victors after some superb goalkeeping from Tom Smalley. Rangers won 4-3 with Wilson, Petch, Smalley and Matthew York hitting the net.

The semi-final was against Bedale and after some lovely passing football Rangers won deservedly 3-1 with captain Swainston grabbing a hat-trick.

The final was against Bedlington Tigers who gave it their all but Rangers kept the pressure on and won 2-1. The Rangers scorers were Wilson and Petch.

The Under-12s B team played against Bedale in the first game and held a 0-0 draw. The second game saw them against a strong local side, Haxby Town who won 2-1. Rangers scorer was Lewis Elward with his first goal for Rangers. The third game was against local rivals 21st Allstars who won with a single goal.
