LIBERATA, which runs many of Redcar and Cleveland's Borough Council services, will hand over a cheque for £1,112 to to children's hospice Zoe's Place tomorrow.

The cash was raised by employees who were sponsored to take part in the Redcar Half Marathon.

Liberata business centre director Derek Don will present the cheque to its general manager Mark Guidery on behalf of the half marathon team, including top fundraiser Joan Marsay, a finance team leader, in Redcar.

Ms Marsay, who raised £436, is on a fitness drive and has lost two stone.

She said: "I used the two-mile fun run arranged as part of the half marathon day to start my own personal campaign to get fit."

She has also donated her prize as top fundraiser, a day at a local health spa, as a raffle prize.

Mr Don said: "Liberata were delighted to sponsor the Redcar Half Marathon and we are very proud of the employees who ran for such a deserving cause.

"Zoe's Place does such wonderful work to help sick children and their families and we are delighted to be able to support such a worthwhile charity.

"I offer particular congratulations to Joan and our first finisher Ella Towers who ran a very impressive time of one hour 51 minutes."

Zoe's Place, in Normanby, was the North-East's first hospice for terminally-ill babies and young children when it opened its doors to patients earlier this year.

The centre offers the youngsters tailored care and aims to provide the best environment for babies and small children up to the age of five with life-threatening or limiting illnesses.
