HUNDREDS of North-East dance music fans will congregate for an outdoor festival this weekend.

Lovebox on a Summer's Day will take place at Gosforth Park racecourse, in Newcastle, from noon to 10.30pm tomorrow.

The event is held every year in London and this is the first time it has been organised outside the capital.

It features chart-toppers Groove Armada and some of the finest DJs on the circuit, including Jon Carter, Ashley Beedle, Mark Rae and DJ Yoda.

It will also feature North-East club legends Shindig and Substance.

The event is a boost to the region's culture10 programme, which celebrates a decade of world-class culture, talent and creativity, and aims to bring new events to the region every year until the end of the decade.

Paul Collard, the creative director of culture10 said: "Newcastle and Gateshead is renowned for its love of musical culture and its ability to stage world-class events.

"Through the culture10 programme, we hope to attract more big events to the region, especially those that have never been staged before."

Tickets are £25 plus a booking fee and can be bought from Newcastle record stores RPM Music and Steel Wheels 2, Virgin Megastore or at www.ticketweb.co.uk
