CIU League: Crook Belle Vue strengthened their chances of repeating their darts championship win after they beat the visiting second place Cockton Hill for the loss of only one point.

Byers Green remain as a possible threat as they recorded a similar victory when they visited the Prospect Club.

Kevin Spensley of Tindale Crescent was the marksman of the week with two maximums, whilst Colin Barron of Crowtrees, Chris Kitch of Cockton Hill, Doug McCarthy of Crook Belle Vue and Kenny Nicholson of Ferryhill all hit one 180. Phil Nixon of Ferryhill recorded a twelve darts finish.

Newfield strengthened their top spot in the dominoes section with a good away win over Tindale Crescent, whilst the run-a-way pool leaders, Ferryhill were surprisingly tested at bottom team, Chilton who took two points.

Willington Ladies League

Willington Club B proved to be the dominant darts team in the league when they added three more trophies to their league title. They won the Singles Team Knockout by beating Hunwick Joiners Arms 4-1, the Doubles Team Knockout by beating Willington Market 2-0 and the Team Knockout by beating Sunnybrow Brown Trout 2-1.

The Prospect Club, who beat Willington Club A 3-2 in the final, won the Dominoes Team Knock Out Cup.

Willington Burn took second place in the dominoes league after they beat Willington Market 3-1 in the play-off.

Magnet League

The league's annual presentation night is to be held at East End WMC on Tuesday, July 6 at 7.30pm. Admission is by ticket only. Anyone wishing to obtain tickets should contact the secretary on (01325) 489801.

The league's AGM is to be held at the Hospital Social Club on Wednesday, July 28 at 7.30pm prompt. Any darts or 5s and 3s teams wishing to join the league should be represented.

JG Taxis League

Willington Brewer's Droop B made their first win in the darts section when they only dropped one point to the visiting Willington Black Horse Tavern. The home side shot ahead by taking the first four points through Davey Gallagher, Stephen Smith, Alan Rickaby and Eric Fleming. However Michael Pickering stepped up to the oche to save the whitewash by taking the final leg for the Horse.

Willington Burn made their first win in the dominoes section when they only dropped one point to the visiting Crook King's Head. Things looked to be going as usual for the Burn when Paul Gallagher took the first point for the King's but then the home side took over with wins from Dave Griffiths senior, Dave Lawrence, Joe Chatterton and Andy Irwin.

Ushaw Moor Catholic Club maintained their unbeaten record in the pool section when they travelled to Willington Brewer's Droop A and only dropped three points, when Stephen Britton won two and Billy Wragg one for the home side. The visitors had two points each from Steve Tolson, and Simon Patterson with one each from Eric Patterson, Paul Vasey and Gerald Richardson.

Ushaw Moor lead the darts by two points from Hunwick Quarry with the brewer's A a further five adrift. Hunwick Quarry lead the dominoes by one point from usahw Moor and Willington Cottles, whilst the unbeaten Ushaw Moor lead the pool by one from Cottles, who are eleven points ahead of a chasing bunch.

County CIU Individual Finals

The finals of the Durham County CIU Branch Individual Games will be played at The Thomas Wilson Club, 16 Chowdene Bank, Low Fell, Gateshead at 7.30pm on Wednesday, July 21 with the presentations made imediately after the games.

The Whist final will be between R. J. Mulroy (Middlestone Moor) and J. Smith (Chilton & Windlestone). The Cribbage final will be between S. Bowen (Grange Villa) and C. Smith (Grange Villa). The Dominoes final will be between A. Gray (Stanley Empire) and K. Wilkinson (Ferryhill).
