Langbaurgh League: The weather played havoc with the programme last Saturday and only two games went the distance, writes Malcolm Pratt.

Kirby Sigston maintained their position at the top of the table winning for the tenth time in 11 outings when they hosted third from bottom Ingleby Greenhow.

Michael Fawcett opened the Ingleby Greenhow innings scoring 39 but a total of only 101 for eight was achieved as Cowton took six wickets for 60 runs.

Replying Arthur Fawcett captured the wickets of both openers for a combined total of only 13 runs, but Thompson, who went in at number three, steered the winnings towards victory. He formed a fourth wicket partnership which was unbroken with Rayner who ended undefeated on 35 while Thompson was 49 not out.

Skelton Castle were at home to Swainby and beat the weather and their opponents.

Batting first Swainby were dismissed in 23.2 overs for just 56 as the Hogarth brothers, Darren and Gareth, dominated the innings.

Darren delivered 12 overs returning five for 29 and Gareth sent down 11.2 overs claiming four wickets for 19 runs.

Although Skelton Castle lost an early wicket they secured the necessary 57 runs in just 11.3 overs as Michael Grafton ended unbeaten on 21 and Simon Wrigley contributed 17 not out.

The only wicket to fall was taken by Beadle for 28 runs in five overs.

Hutton Rudby were 46 for one following 11.3 overs when their game at Scruton had to be abandoned. Alexander was not out with 17 and Fielding undefeated on 21 as the pair put together a promising partnership for the second wicket after Hutton Rudby had conceded an early wicket.

There was more play at Thimbleby who totalled 182 for five against Broughton and Kirby before the match was abandoned.

Stenson opened the Thimbleby innings and was only four runs short of a century when he was caught. His opening partner Barningham added 29 and a formidable total was posted despite the fact that Parkin claimed three for 46 and Briddock two for 67 in the visiting attack.

Broughton and Kirby were 28 for none when the rain arrived with Mitchell unbeaten on 17 and Parkin nine not out.

There was no play in the games between Chopgate and East Harlsey, Maltby v Stafford Place and Kildale against Crathorne.
