A Darlington school is celebrating sporting success for two of its teams.

Rise Carr Primary School's year three tennis team has won the Darlington round of the Spring Health Mini Tennis Challenge for the third successive year.

The team of seven and eight-year-olds will represent Darlington in the next round at Tennis World, Middlesbrough, competing against schools from County Durham and Cleveland, with a place in next month's county final in Sunderland at stake.

The children who competed were: Thomas Fietsch, Tom Ellicker, Dean Stacey, Ryan Hughes, Abigail Cole, Annie Knight, Laura Johnson and Zara-Jane Latimer.

Meanwhile, the school's football team has enjoyed a trophy winning season.

The team won the Boys Annual Cup in May after battling through eight games.

Rise Carr won its league in the Primary Schools Football Championship, but lost out on goal difference in a competition against the town's other league champions.

The A team reached the final of the St Bedes Tournament, in which the B team finished fourth.
