RISING athletics stars from a college have been celebrating their success at two major competitions.
Teams from Northallerton College won through to the regional finals of the English Schools Track and Field Cup.
They were up against teams from eight schools and colleges from an area stretching from South Yorkshire to the Scottish border at the event, which took place at Gateshead International Stadium.
The intermediate boys' team came third and, said the college's joint head of PE, Alistair Macrae, missed getting through to the national finals by a whisker.
The girls' team came eighth.
In a separate event, the boys' and girls' teams from the college, building on work done by coaches at the Allertonshire School, competed against eight other schools in the Hambleton and Richmondshire Schools athletics championships.
They ran out as team champions for the third year in succession.
