PUPILS have been touring primary schools in the area promoting food hygiene.

Durham High Schools for Girls pupils produced a pantomime to get their message across.

Two groups of 12 girls performed the play to 23 primary schools during Food Safety Week last week, which resulted in more than 3,500 children seeing the production.

Students held a competition to write a pantomime-style script for five to 11-year-olds.

The story had to incorporate relevant food safety messages regarding good hygiene and safe practices, handling and storage.

The winning entry was written by year-nine pupil Rosie Corner.
