THE new boss of Marks & Spencer has been questioned for two hours by the City watchdog over dealings in the group's shares.

Stuart Rose has denied any wrongdoing after buying 100,000 shares in M&S only hours after a phone call with Philip Green on May 7.

The transaction is believed to be the subject of last night's meeting between the Financial Services Authority (FSA) and Mr Rose.

Mr Rose said the phone call from Mr Green was to invite him for a meeting on May 12.
