THREE girls from Teesside High School, in Eaglescliffe, have taken second place in a business competition.
Hartlepool girls Gemma Dowen, 17, and Zennie Mahajan, 16, and 17-year-old Emma Peagam, from Hartburn, competed in the Ogden Trust Business Competition at Bury Boys' Grammar School, in Bury.
The year 12 pupils had three hours to prepare a business idea including a Powerpoint display to present to a panel of judges.
The students were up against the top independent schools in the North of England including Bury, Bolton and Manchester Grammar Schools.
Bob Meggs, Teesside High School's head of business studies, said: "The team performed magnificently and were very close runners-up to Bury Girls' Grammar School. None of the boys' teams came close."
Emma said: "It was really exciting taking part, and we never thought we'd do so well."
